Endeavour Swimming launched in September 2016 to provide swimming lessons for young people from the local community. The programme builds upon the already successful curriculum programme delivered to young people during the school day at Tarleton Academy by swimming specialists from West Lancashire Sport Partnership.
Lessons take place on a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday between 4:00pm and 6:00pm. Lessons are focused, 30-minute sessions in similar ability groups, delivered to the Swim England Learn to Swim Framework. We also deliver 1-2-1 provision on Wednesdays - our 1-2-1 delivery is currently at capacity.
The programme has seen rapid expansion since its inception - at the start of Block 1 in September 2016 we had just under 70 swimmers at Endeavour. In Block 1 at September 2019 we had 190 swimmers booked on to lessons.
By enrolling on the programme it provides an excellent opportunity for primary school children to gain swimming experience at Tarleton Academy before making the move to secondary school. Our swimming specialists from West Lancashire Sport Partnership teach many of the current children at Endeavour during the school day at swimming lessons, fostering a swimmer-teacher relationship for the benefit of the child’s swimming provision, following through to community lessons with an awareness of the child’s learning technique. We have a team of Level 2 Qualified Endeavour Swimming teachers who are committed to providing a high quality swimming service for the young people in our community.
It has been a long-term vision of Tarleton Academy to bring community swimming provision ‘in-house’ and we are delighted at the quality and success of the programme to date. We hope you can join us!
